Proxy down ... again

It seems that [once again] the hosting company which hosts the proxy has deemed it in violation of acceptable use. StartLogic is the offending party this time, marking the 4th time it has been shut down. I hope to have a temporary fix up by late tonight.

Does anyone know of a web host who doesn't exercise parental guidelines on it's customers? I've bee looking at Webmasters.com as a possible choice, but I need to further examine their terms of service.

Also, does anyone know of an ISP that offers cheap static IP addresses in Baltimore? I could avoid this whole mess for good if I hosted the site myself. (By cheap I mean $60/month or less.) Thanks!

New host and design!

Sometime in December I will be switching to a different hosting provider, allowing me to serve up UndoEverything goodness even quicker. To ring in the new host, I've already started working on a new site design. If you'd like to see the progress (and it is a work in progress), you can check UndoEverything.com/newsite. However, it's going to be changing radically day to day and quite often simply won't work while I implement new features and fix bugs. Feed back is welcome!

Temporary Proxy -- Update!!

Update: Merry Early Christmas!! Because I promised you guys I would get the new server up soon, but still have been unable to find the time to do so (schools been real hectic), I decided I'd try to help you guys out a bit. I did manage to find enough time to upgrade the current temporary proxy to run on SSL!! The new proxy should do everything the old proxy did now. If you experience any problems, please let me know. This is still only temporary, so I apologize for any slowness. In fact, I expect it to an extent, because it's partially my doing. I imposed a bit of a bandwidth/cpu throttle to keep the proxy from consuming my friend's little site.

Why BlueHost can suck my #!$%

Some of you may have noticed that the website has been down for the last 24 hours and many of you have noticed that the proxy has been on and off for the last few weeks. Quite plainly, the site was down because my webhost (BlueHost.com) disabled my account. I'll get into to details in a few sentences, allow me to diverge.

Apparently, two months ago BlueHost changed their policy and hosting "proxies" from your account is now in violation. Not only was my last renewal mroe than two months ago (meaning I did not bind myself to this "new contract"), but they did not inform any of their customers of the change! What kind of shady business is this? They knew that customers wouldn't like it, so they simply didn't tell them!
